Affordable Warmth

The Affordable Warmth Team provides advice, support and mentoring to people living in Argyll and Bute experiencing fuel poverty. The aim is to target assistance to the groups most vulnerable to fuel poverty, including the elderly, single parents, families with young children, young adults living alone and the disabled. The Affordable Warmth Team also provide training and mentoring to people who support others in the community, including health and social care professionals, carer groups, community groups and volunteers.

Carer Support Plans are an important way of identifying the needs of the unpaid carer and making sure they feel informed and supported. Please call or email North Argyll Carers’ Centre to make an appointment to see a Support Worker.

NCT Lomond

NCT is the UK’s largest charity for parents – supporting you through the first 1,000 days. This group provides information and support for Lomond parents on pregnancy, childbirth, breastfeeding and parenthood. They also hold nearly new sales to find good quality baby, children and maternity clothes as well as nursery equipment etc. See website or Facebook for more details.

Citizens Advice Bureau

Argyll and Bute Citizens Advice Bureau is a local, independent charity which provides free, impartial and confidential advice and information to give clients the tools they need to sort out any issues or problems. CAB is at the heart of the community and offers several services, including: advice on benefits, debt and money, housing, work, law and courts and family.

Bute Advice Centre

The Centre was established for the purpose of benefiting the community in Bute. They have evolved from this start and now they deliver Housing Advice,Homelessness, eviction, housing grants, arrears and tenancy issues,
Welfare Benefits Advice,
Benefits checks, form filling and representation at Tribunal Appeals,
Fuel poverty & Utilities Advice,
& Debt Management Provision (advice regarding voluntary payment arrangements, protected trust deeds, bankruptcy, DAS and court representation).
This is delivered across the whole of Argyll and Bute, not just in Bute & Cowal. This includes . Helensburgh, Oban, Lochgilphead, Campbeltown, Rothesay, Dunoon, Tarbert and the Islands Mull & Iona, Islay, Gigha, Coll & Tiree, Islay and Jura alongside Bute.
They are the first point of contact for the Flexible Food and Fuel Fund across the region. They are partnered with ALIenergy as part of this great project. Crossroads Caring for Carers

Carer Support Groups are facilitated in rural areas. It is a fantastic opportunity to meet with other carers, reduce isolation, share your caring experience and find peer support.

Community Contacts – Colonsay

Community Contacts offers free impartial support, information and advice on Self-directed Support (SDS) to people of all ages across Argyll and Bute. By working together with Argyll and Bute HSCP and with other partners, the project team can give people time at any point of the SDS process, to understand their assessment journey, their choices and to make informed decisions. Help people prepare for meetings and discussions with other professionals by sharing fact-based information alongside person-centred approaches. Have good conversations to help people consider their personal outcomes and to develop plans for their SDS. Provide information, advice and support to assist people to understand their rights and responsibilities when they choose to challenge SDS decisions. Offer intensive support to manage Option 1; for example to put systems into place, with sharing advice and information on safe and appropriate employment practice and to access appropriate additional support such as a payroll service.
