Bute Advice Centre
The Centre was established for the purpose of benefiting the community in Bute. They have evolved from this start and now they deliver Housing Advice,Homelessness, eviction, housing grants, arrears and tenancy issues,
Welfare Benefits Advice,
Benefits checks, form filling and representation at Tribunal Appeals,
Fuel poverty & Utilities Advice,
& Debt Management Provision (advice regarding voluntary payment arrangements, protected trust deeds, bankruptcy, DAS and court representation).
This is delivered across the whole of Argyll and Bute, not just in Bute & Cowal. This includes . Helensburgh, Oban, Lochgilphead, Campbeltown, Rothesay, Dunoon, Tarbert and the Islands Mull & Iona, Islay, Gigha, Coll & Tiree, Islay and Jura alongside Bute.
They are the first point of contact for the Flexible Food and Fuel Fund across the region. They are partnered with ALIenergy as part of this great project. Counselling Service
Achievement Bute is a families-led voluntary organisation which provides a wide range of inclusive activities for all children and young people on Bute. They were set up by parents of children with disabilities in 1998 who wanted to make sure that all young people could be fully included in activities in their local community. This includes a counselling service where if you have concerns as a parent about how a young person is feeling you can have confidential advice from a Clinical Child Psychologist.
The Lade Centre
The Lade Centre offers space for a variety of community activities. This includes ukulele fun strum, boxercise, bridge club, chair yoga, a writers group, board games and gentle exercise. The centre is also used once a month by Stepping Stones. There is also a range of different therapies for you to enjoy including massage, reflexology, aromatherapy. Counselling is available to all adults over the age of 18 years who live on Bute. The cost is supported by The Lade Centre and through grants from other organisations. A counselling session can take place by phone, via zoom and in-person at the Lade Centre.

Hear 4 U is a service aimed at secondary school age young people. To provide fast and person centred support to those affected by alcohol and other drug misuse.
Family Mediation
Everyone has baggage; it’s how they carry it that makes a difference. Family Mediation supports parents who live apart – to parent apart. Mediators help parents to talk to each other and reach mutual decisions for their children. You can contact Family Mediation Argyll and Bute directly by phone, letter or email or if you prefer approach a professional such as a solicitor for a referral.
Child Contact Centre
A Child Contact Centre is somewhere parents who no longer live with their children can meet them. Child Contact Centres aim to benefit children by protecting them from parental conflict. Parents need not meet within the Centre. Most referrals are made through the court or social work department, but you can self refer. To self refer get in touch with Family Mediation Argyll and Bute to discuss arrangements.
Counselling Service
It is for people over 16 and their families who are living with long-term/terminal illness or bereavement. Carers and non-carers can make a self-referral to the service or be referred by other professionals. Use of counselling is a process that helps people to make choices or reach decisions about how to handle their concerns. Dochas Centre is a member of Counselling and Psychotherapy in Scotland (COSCA). Their counselling team is fully trained and qualified.
Counselling Service
Counselling provides a safe, confidential and supportive place to explore and clarify thoughts and feelings. Counselling can be helpful when experiencing distressing life events such as our own or another’s poor health, bereavement, relationship difficulties, isolation, anxiety, low self-esteem etc.
Person-centred, confidential counselling sessions are normally weekly for one hour, but this can vary to meet individual need. There are no fees for people attending the Dove Centre.
My Space, My Family
My Space, My Family is a service that supports young adults and children to maintain a positive relationship with both parents because many need support after their parents separate/divorce as they feel isolated or trapped in the middle of the two most important people in their lives. Family Mediation Argyll and Bute helps young people to talk about how the family changes effect them, helps them to understand the importance of having a relationship with both parents, if safe to do so and helps them to understand their feelings and emotions. Family Mediation Argyll and Bute listen and help.
