From here you can search the local area for all the services offered by charities and organisations across the region. Whether you’re looking for a local play group for your children, need help from a community transport hub or just want to get out and meet like minded folk, then there will be something in Argyll & Bute for you.
You can watch this helpful video which will talk you through how to use this online service or scroll down for step by step guides.
There are several ways you can find services using this site. The first is to simply browse on the map.
The numbers on the map show the number of services located in the approximate area. Double click with your mouse to zoom in and the services will split apart into more accurate locations.
As you zoom in, you will see the numbers start to turn into blue and white pins. This indicates a service that you can click on to get more information. Some organisations run multiple services and so may appear all in one location. Click the number icon to show all the services in the location.
Click on the blue pins to see a summary of the service being offered.
Click on the View Service link to see more information.
If you don’t want to use the map view, you can easily switch to and from “Grid View” using the buttons above the map.
Once in Grid view, summary cards of services are shown. When you first enter the site, these are randomly displayed. You can use the filter and search options to narrow focus your results.
When viewing the service details, you are shown the service description, contact details and online links such as website, email and their social media links. If we have the information, then you will also see where they operate and days that they are open.
Just because a service is based in say Oban, doesn’t mean it doesn’t service the whole Region, so it’s worth checking the Areas of Operation.
There are three options available for filtering and searching the directory.
The widest search, which will potentially give the most results, is the “Main Focus” search. Each service is grouped into one of 11 main categories and you can choose to filter by one or more of these.
Let’s say you want to improve your fitness and want to find something that may interest you. You can click on the Main Focus dropdown and choose “Leisure, Recreation & Sport” from the list.
Both the map and grid view will update to show all those services under that category. You can now browse either the map or grid view to find something that interests you.
Press the Reset Filters button to clear your search results.
This search is a little more detailed.
Let us say you or a friend or relation have mobility issues and are looking for help in getting into town.
Click on the Type of Service dropdown and find “Community Transport”.
Both the map and grid views will update to show all the services which offer Community Transport assistance.
You can select more than one option from the list is you are looking for something broader.
The final option is to search by keyword.
Simply enter your keyword into the search box and press Search. For example, if you are looking for a nursery, simply enter Nursery and search. The map and grid will update accordingly.
Or you may want to find somewhere to go swimming. Just type Swimming and press search.
